The 4 Different Types of Faucets

One of the most important aspects of a bathroom, kitchen or washroom is, of course, a faucet. A durable and high quality faucet will help preserve your bathroom for the long run while simultaneously giving your design a beautiful and functional piece.

Bathroom Faucets

Most bathroom faucets are fixed to either the deck or the wall. Deck mounted faucets need to be compatible with a certain type of sink that can accommodate the specifications of the faucet. For example, if you have a faucet that requires three holes, you need a sink that has room for it as well as three holes. There isn’t really any way to get around this. Bathroom faucets are also generally shorter in height than a kitchen faucet. The one major difference between bathroom and kitchen faucets is the fact that bathroom faucets can come in a wider variety of different of beautiful styles. For example, you are much more likely to find a waterfall faucet in a bathroom than a kitchen.

Kitchen Faucets

The main differences between kitchen faucets and bathroom faucets are the height and design. Kitchen faucets are typically taller than bathroom faucets because kitchen faucets are used to clean larger objects such as plates and similar objects. They also can come equipped with a detachable hose or sprayer in order to spray otherwise hard to reach spots with a regular fixed faucet. It is recommended that you do not use kitchen faucets and bathroom faucets interchangeably. They are amazing for your kitchen sink, but the kitchen is the only place where they should be. You can find kitchen faucets with similar features to bathroom faucets, giving you enough to work with regardless.

Wall Mounted Faucets

A wall mounted faucet is a great way to add a beautiful fixture as well as conserve space. Because the faucet is fixed to the wall, you have more space to store other things on your counter or sink. Wall mounted faucets are also a beautiful fixture in general. They convey a minimalist design with a sleek and sharp design. Though a bit harder to install, faucets that are mounted on your wall are very viable options for your bathroom. Another great aspect of wall mounted faucets is how easy they are to clean. They are extremely accessible when it comes to cleaning products, so this is something to keep in mind when purchasing.

Deck Mounted Faucets

A deck mounted faucet can work in virtually any design. As long as you have a counter or sink to install the faucet on, a deck mounted faucet will work for you. Deck mounted faucets are a bit more versatile than wall mounted faucets. For example deck mounted faucets can have the ability to swivel or come equipped with a detachable hose. In a bathroom, you probably want to have a fixed faucet, while in the kitchen, you may want to consider a swivel or hose. Something to consider is how your faucet will pair with your sink. Take some time to really find a great sink/faucet combo for the perfect design.

Bathroom faucet Installation

Bathroom faucet installation requires you to take several things into account. First of all, you need to know whether or not your bathroom faucet is single hole or not. Three hole faucets will need three holes on the sink, counter top or wall. A center set faucet can be a single hole faucet or three hole faucet, but this may vary depending on the faucet type. Make sure your sink or wall can accommodate each type of faucet, depending on what you need.

Bathroom Faucet Prices

When it comes to pricing, there are a number of different ways for you to go. Some faucets will be a bit more expensive than others. This depends on material, size, quality, installation type and finish, among others. In general, a high quality bathroom faucet will cost about $100-$500.  A kitchen faucet will cost a similar amount of money. Hose and sprayer features could increase the price a bit. It is important that your faucet matches your sink as well as the rest of your bathroom, while still fitting your personal preferences and your budget.
